The Blues Club – Scarborough employs a professional house band, led by well known blues guitarist and singer Tom Townsend.
Tom has built up quite a following in the Scarborough area in recent years. He has also toured widely, including several trips to Indonesia. Apart from his many other talents, Tom can play electric, steel and acoustic guitars in a variety of styles and has a wonderful soulful voice and ‘feel’ for the music we all love.
While Tom (guitars and vocals), Paul Tilley (drums) and Mark Gordon (keyboards) are regular members of the band, the exact make-up of the rest of the combo varies each week, depending on the needs of the club, the availablity of other musicians, and the style of music being played on that particular occasion.
Local professionals who contribute in this way include Nick Boyes (bass), Bob Walker (bass), Julia Wray (sax), Simon Coles (keyboards), Rob MacKay (flute) and many others.
The band is currently seeking a permanent bass player to replace James Grunwell, the previous occupant of this position, who has moved to Leeds.
